Looks like she really did make a deal with God.
Kate Bush has broken three Guinness World Records with her iconic song ‘Running Up That Hill’.
While the song has always been popular, its inclusion in the latest season of Netflix’s Stranger Things has seen it exposed to a new audience.
Originally peaking at No. 3 in the UK charts, 36 years later the single has now earned the Guinness-stamped record for the longest time taken for a track to reach the top spot on the UK’s Official Singles Chart.
It also earns a record for the longest gap between No. 1 singles, with her last chart-topping hit — ‘Wuthering Heights — released in 1978.
At 63, Kate Bush is now also the oldest female artist to have a No.1 hit on the UK’s Official Singles Chart. The title was previously held by Cher, who enjoyed an extended run at the top of the charts with ‘Believe’ when she was 52.
While Bush has famously shied away from the spotlight, she recently gave a rare interview to the BBC to discuss the newfound popularity of ‘Running Up That Hill’ and revealed, among other things, that the original title for ‘Running Up That Hill’ was the since-parenthesised ‘A Deal With God’.
